Concordia College Choir at the Cathedral

by Keith

Here's another opportunity to enjoy an evening of great music in an interesting setting convenient to Rockport 35 RV Park!

Saturday, March 2, at 7:30 PM, the Concordia Choir of Moorehead, Minnesota, will present a concert at the Corpus Christi Cathedral. If you love choral music, this is a must-attend event!

To be honest, I've only heard this choir one time. But I have heard it's "sister choirs" from Luther College and St. Olaf College multiple times. These choirs are part of the dynasty of Lutheran college choirs centered on Minnesota. All have superb choirs which have gained national and international recognition.

I don't know a better way to say it: They are good!

If you've not been to a concert at the Cathedral, this would be a great time to begin! The Cathedral is easy to get to—it's just a few blocks off the main road into CC, just after you cross the bridge. Check it out on Google maps and you'll have no trouble. There's some parking on the street and there's a parking lot just beyond the Cathedral.

I suggest arriving about seven for both parking and seating advantages.

Concerts of the Cathedral Concert Series are free but usually a free-will offering is taken.

We hope at least a few from the Park will attend and enjoy them as much as we have enjoyed great concerts there over the last several years.

Greetings from Ontario

by Pam via Dianne

Well friends, so sorry we haven’t been in touch for so long. Lots of stuff happening here. We are getting settled in our condo – very different, but nice. We have a view looking over the marina towards the bridge in Port Huron – and the ice flows down the river!!!!!!  Both of us are recovering from the flu (should have come south).  Miss you and Rick and of course your friendship. Regards to our winter Texan friends. Take care.

Blessings, Pam & Geoff Weager

Dick Carlson - Improving

by Dianne

One week ago today, Dick was admitted to Christis Spohn Memorial Hospital in Corpus due to upper body pain and shallow breathing.  The doctors diagnosed his problem as fluid in the right lung area (pressing on his heart) and fluid and infection in the pocket area of the liver where the right lobe was removed last fall.  With drainage tubes inserted and antibiotics, he is getting better and feeling better every day.

As his progress continues, doctors will move him out of the cardiac care unit to a regular room (soon we hope).  From there, he will be released to a rehab facility to help him regain some of his strength before coming home.  Any of us who have been down for more than a week, know how quickly we become like rag dolls and it takes time to build those muscles up.

On the positive side, Dick did have a PET scan a couple of weeks ago which showed no signs of cancer anywhere – for that we thank and praise God.

Happy Valentine's Day!

by Keith

Those of you who've been at Rockport 35 RV Park for a few years don't need to be told of the good times and great people who chose to spend their time there. As it is Valentine's Day, I started to reminisce about those times and those people.

I looked up some pictures of a Valentine's Day Dance. That led me to pictures of other really fun events at the park.

It appears that the Great Pancake Race happened about this time of year! Remember the fun? You can relive it in pictures.

There'll be a link a bit further down. It'll take you to a Google-owned page on which I've put several "web albums." They're all viewable by anyone, so passwords won't be a problem.

There are a few albums there which don't relate to life at Rockport 35 RV Park. You can ignore them or enjoy them; your choice.

As I looked through the pictures, I was reminded time and again of the great friends we met there. A few have passed on to their reward. Others were there only a year or two. Others felt their age dictated that it would be better if they simply stayed closer to home.

But whether they are or were there for days or years, we met many great people there whom we consider as  not just friends but dear friends.

Valentine's Day seems like an appropriate day on which to remember them!

Entertainment Alert!

by Keith

A few weeks ago, Pat and I had an enjoyable evening attending a performance we would like to recommend to our friends.

Goldwing Express will give five performances at locations convenient to those at Rockport 35 RV park.

Monday and Wednesday, February 11 and 13, they'll be in Port Aransas at 1 and 6 PM each day, at Pollock Center.

Tuesday, February 12, they'll perform at Lagoons RV Resort at 7 PM.

The group consists of a dad plus three adult sons. They are musically talented and are also great entertainers. Of the five entertainers we've seen at our park, they are tied with one other for top spot.

We understand that not everyone like the same thing, therefore you might not share our enthusiasm for this group. But we enjoyed them greatly!

You might want to go just to see the white Goldwing parked by the door!

Visiting Friends

by Keith

Bob and Gelene are out visiting friends in extreme South Texas this week. We were pleased that we were included on their visit list!

Pat, Bob, Gelene in Mission
We had a good visit, then headed out to one of our favorite local restaurants for dinner. The place was packed, but Bob's charm got us a table.

This place has live entertainment every night. The only disappointment was that it was not karaoke night. Better come back Satureday, Bob!

We hope we're on the "visit list" of anyone else who might be heading down here this winter. We'd love to see you!
