Fake User Registrations

Fake User Registrations Are Numerous

Ever since this Wilderness Oaks blog began, fake user registrations have increased. During the last week, somewhere between one and two dozen fake user registrations occured.

These registrations are most likely created by robots. In general, they are created so the person making them can write Comments, which almost always include a link to their website. Fortuanately, only two have submitted Comments. One was from Russia, the other from Poland.

Those two are no longer registered Users!

A Chair Report

Time for another chair report. There are only so many ways these four chairs can be arranged and it looks like the person(s) who is responsible may be running out of ideas.

I'm wondering just how many of Dave's "friends" are involved, or is it really just one. I've heard rumors of admission to a one-time-only involvement by someone who frequents the morning coffee group, so that narrows it down a wee bit.

Dave is keeping quiet about his retribution. He's not saying what he knows or when/where the "chairmen" will be dealt with for certain.  We'll have to wait and see. Just remember, if you are involved, be careful who sits behind you.

Will They Catch Him?

There are several children in the park this season ranging from ages 2 to 10.  Our activities director schedules weekly events to keep them busy such as "story hour" every afternoon.  Some of our park guests enjoy helping out with this and other activities.

With St. Patrick's Day just around the corner, they thought it would be fun to make Leprechaun traps to see if anyone could catch one of these magical little fellows. Each child, using their creative imagination, came up with their own design and with help from the adults were able to build the traps to their detailed specifications.  They used sweet treats to lure the Leprechaun to the box that springs a trap door to capture the little guy. The traps will be set out Sunday night throughout the club house. I'm sure the children will be anxious to see what they find come Monday morning.

Ladies Lunch

[caption id="attachment_347" align="alignleft" width="219"]The hungry, happy bunch waiting to order. The hungry, happy bunch waiting to order.[/caption]

The ladies in the park get together at a different restaurant once a month for lunch, friendship, and laughter. The following picture is  from January’s luncheon which was held at Poor Man’s Steakhouse and Grill. There were 18 of us and everyone was more than satisfied with their selection and the service. It is a smoking establishment but with their high ceilings the smoking from a few was hardly noticed. A great choice, so I’m thinking we surely will make a return visit next year.

Rockport Park Alumni

Friday, Rockport park alumni Williams and Logsdons, from Mission and Alamo, respectively, drove to Kingsville where they were met by current Rockport park guests, the Carls and Carlsons.

My, what a good time we had!

They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, so I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

CrossStrung - Entertainment Alert

CrossStrung Coming: Entertainment Alert

The best musicians we've seen in Mission this Winter are coming to Rockport!

The day is Monday, March 10. At 12 noon they'll be at the sister resort, Wilderness Lakes RV Resort in Mathis. At 8:00 PM they'll be right down the road at Lagoons RV Resort!

Not Your Average Family Band

CrossStrung is a "family band," but certainly not your average family band with Mom, Dad, and kids from cute little ones to the I'd-rather-not-be-here size.

This show team is a mother, three daughters, and the husband of one of the daghters. This married couple are superb on their violins! At least two of the members hold state championship awards for their musical skills!

Rather than me explain the show to you, I'll simply suggest that you go to their website, crossstrung.com, and look around. Check out some of their videos!

CrossStrung is High Tech

Not only are they the best musicians we've seen this year, they are the most modernly equipped group we've seen. Of course it is natural that I'd notice that, but I did so only after being awed by their musical abilities.

They use L.E.D. flood/spot lights, with colors and strobe effects. They use wireless mics, so they're not tripping over cords.

The whole shebang is controlled wirelessly from an iPad operated by yet another sister! How's that for going high tech!!

I Gave 'em a Ten!

I rate each of the groups who come to our park. I gave CrossStrung the highest rating on my scale, a ten. The only other performers to get a ten were Goldwing Express, who also performed at Lagoons.

Oh, if you go and are lucky, there'll be a special cute little surprise!

If you attend, write a little review of it and give it to Dianne for publication here!

Rockport Friends Get Together in Mission

Rockport Friends

Saturday, Bob and Gelene Logsdon, Rockport friends for a few years, came over for a visit. They live a bit over 20 miles "downstream" from us.

[caption id="attachment_259" align="aligncenter" width="480"]Photo of Gelene and Bob Logsdon visiting Rockport friends. Gelene and Bob Logsdon Visiting Rockport Friends[/caption]

They're spending this Winter in Alamo while we are on the extreme west edge of Mission. West of us is a golf course, then a corn field. Really!

Why Saturday? That was the day our park's quilters had their annual show and tell. Guess what the gals did!

Bob and I just kicked back and chatted. When the gals reappeared, we went out to lunch, the time-honored thing for Winter Texan friends to do.

Then back to our place for more chatting to finish the afternoon.

It's great to see our winter friends again!

Bonding at the Bon Fire

We had another great turnout at our third bonfire, hotdog/marshmallow roast last night (Saturday). The weather cooperated nicely and did not get as cold as forecast. A relaxing and great socializing time was enjoyed by all including the kids in the park. They seemed to like playing on the sand hill. Hopefully we can get one or more fires in before friends start leaving for their home states.

Thank you, Mary Snyder, for remembering your camera and taking some pictures. How many of you can find yourself in the following pictures?

The Chair Men

I've been taking pictures as new chair configurations occur and am wondering when "they" will run out of ideas. Here are a couple more masterpieces. Yes, the Chair Men continue their shenanigans.
