Fake User Registrations

Fake User Registrations Are Numerous

Ever since this Wilderness Oaks blog began, fake user registrations have increased. During the last week, somewhere between one and two dozen fake user registrations occured.

These registrations are most likely created by robots. In general, they are created so the person making them can write Comments, which almost always include a link to their website. Fortuanately, only two have submitted Comments. One was from Russia, the other from Poland.

Those two are no longer registered Users!

Users Deleted

Today, I deleted over 40 users. It is possible, but unlikely, that a very few legitimate Users were deleted. If you were one of those, I apologize. Please re-register!

New Software Installed

Software designed to stop fake blog registrations was installed today. If you're a real person with a real email address and a real name, you should have no problem registering.

The new software even gives you a way to easily request inclusion if you meet the above requirements but are refused registration.

Why Register?

At the moment, there is only one benefit to becoming a registered User on this site.

You must be a registered User to be able to write and submit a Comment on an article. If you think you might want to Comment someday, you can go ahead and register now. Then when the urge to Comment hits you, you'll be ready to go!

We don't want fake user registrations. If you're reading this, you are not a fake. You're a real and valued person reading the park blog!

Comments Are Welcome

One somewhat disappointing aspect of this site is the small number of Comments received.

If you read these articles and like them, please comment!

If you read these articles and don't like them, please comment!

Those who contribute to this blog get no pay, so they are thrilled when someone passes along an "Atta Girl!" in passing or Comments on an article.

Comments from friends who no longer are at the park are especially welcome! Your friends, no matter where they are, would love to hear from you!

You can do more than Comment! Just write a little note and email it to Dianne Carlson or Keith Williams and we'll see that everyone gets the info!
