Back at Wilderness Oaks

On our way home to Cedar Rapids from Mission, we spent a night on our old spot (80) at Wilderness Oaks!

It was GREAT to visit with friends with whom we'd spent up to seven years at the previous park. They even rmembered us!

We chose our date wisely: it was the day of the park's weekly potluck dinner!

  1. Kieth,
I'm surprised you are still doing a blog for the RV park. Did Allison sell or just re-name the park? We are thinking about coming down there in January for a few weeks and visit with some of those we new a few years ago. I don't know if you remember Sylvia and her husband that owned a park in Harrison, Mi., we have spent some time at their park the last couple of years. Hopefully we'll see you and Pat in January and others that were there in the time we were there.

  2. Good to hear from you, Jim! Thanks for commenting; I wish more people would do that.
As you can see, the blog doesn't get many articles these days. It's hard for me to do, as we now spend the winter in Mission, a few hundred miles away. And folks who are at the park are way too busy enjoying each other and having fun to write articles!!
About four years ago now, Allison and Tony sold the park.
This past winter, the park was FULL ---or nearly so. If you're planning to stop in January, I recommend a reservation! Many from the days when we enjoyed our winters there are still there. We got to see them when we stopped. And there are many new guests ---friends we've not met yet!
Although I vaguely remember "park owners from MI" I must admit I don't specifically remember Sylvia.
Pat and I now spend our winters at Hidden Valley Ranch in Mission, TX, but we still remember the good times and great friends we met in Rockport.

  3. We will be in Rockport the month of January, but at the Sand Dollar across the street. I don't know if you had heard, I lost Choyce in 2011 and have since re-married. Hope you and Pat are doing well. Also, my sister Joann and her husband Bobby are back in Michigan, Bobby had a massive stroke and can't travel.
