Today while at Wal*Mart I checked to see what they had.
Thumb drives:
- 1GB for about $9
- 2GB for $12.88
- 4GB for $24.88
- 8GB for a bit under $50, as I recall.
A large photo is about 1MB, or 0.001GB. Therefore, one could store about 2000 large photos on a 2GB drive. (I don't believe thumb drives are recommended for long-term, permanent, storage, but they are great for short-term storage.)
Hard drives (all USB hard drives, and very small)
- 320, 350, and even 500GB for $79.
This is about the same capacity that their laptop computers have.
