JW: An Award-Winning Wood Carver

February 14, JW went to the Chip O Texas Carvers convention and judging in Harlingen. Wood carvers from a wide area attended, with a huge number from the Rio Grand Valley.

JW received a First Place ribbon on his clock entry, shown at the right.

A plaque of a horse head garnered an Honorable Mention.

He just completed carving and finishing two hummingbirds drinking from flowers. To me, carving these intricate figures would be a real challenge. They look great; good job, JW!

If you're a wood carver, see JW or Gordon and they'll help you get "connected up" with other carvers in the area.

We miss Gene and Bill, regular wood carvers who elected to remain in Iowa and Minnesota this Winter.
