The other day I tried to raise the steps (three steps) on my Hitchhiker. I got them about halfway up, then they'd move no more.
There are 20 pivot points on the step mechanism. With the high humidity here, possibly with a little salt mixed in, the pivot points had rusted to the point that they wouldn't pivot easily.
After a few squirts of Metal Protector (AMSOIL's more-or-less equivalent of WD-40) and gentle nudging, the steps now open and close freely.
Next year, I'll lubricate them when I get here and maybe once or twice during the stay.
If you're planning to leave soon, you might want to check your steps now—rather than doing it during the "mad rush" that often happens while getting ready to leave.
