Mimi Quietly Passes Away

Mimi Emory on Jan 28, 2011
By Keith

This message just came to me from Ione:

"David Emory called me this morning to let me know that Mimi had passed away.  She was with them in San Antonio, had just bought a house, and was moving today.  They found her slumped over in a chair this a.m., and didn't have any answers about what had happened."

Mimi was our across-the-street neighbor on Third Street for each of the six winters we've spent there. She was active and loved to play cards!

Over the last year, health issues tried to slow her down but she was having none of that! She was bound and determined to spend this past winter in Rockport, where she loved it and had many friends. She was always pushing the limits of her body's capability, thinking that would help strengthen it, no doubt.

And perhaps it did. She made it through the winter, a couple of hundred feet, then a rest, then a few more hundred feet, and so on. She WAS NOT giving in to the frailties of her 80+-year-old body.

It sounds as if she was still doing things important to her right up to the end. One must admire a lady like that! She was not about to give up—and didn't.

Her son, David, had the trailer next door to hers and often visited over the weekends. You may contact him at this address:
David Emory
11506 Cavendish Circle

NOTE: Thank You, Ione, for providing this information in such a timely manner.
